“The longer I live, the more deeply I learn that love – whether we call it friendship or family or romance – is the work of mirroring and magnifying each other’s light. Gentle work. Steadfast work. Life-saving work in those moments when life and shame and sorrow occlude our own light from our view, but there is still a clear-eyed loving person to beam it back. In our best moments, we are that person for another.”
James Baldwin
Standing Together is a form of love.
Many of us have said this already. But yesterday was amazing. Over 1,000 demonstrations, not only in big cities but in small places where people wanted to stand together in protest, to show that we will fight. We photographed many signs.
We sent each other pictures of energy, and innovation, and hope.
Paula Rogovin sent this from Teaneck.
Nina Shapiro-Perl was in Walnut Creek.
My personal favorite, from Philip D. in Bennington, Vermont.
We gather together, to mobilize, to create, to show our strength, and to sing.
Send us your stories and pictures too.
Love to all,
Esther
PS:
