April
Today the daffodils in my yard began to open. Spring is like that. One day, nothing, the next there is something. Hope returns and an anticipation of normal life, whatever that means.
With spring came Passover. Holidays that involve eating, drinking and talking are the best. And thanks to all who came to our Passover Party last week. Your questions have kept us thinking. It’s wonderful to see so many faces even on a screen, and I am excited to be getting to know so many new people. We plan to have more events in the future and welcome your ideas.
April is also poetry month. Why Eliot needed to call April cruel, I don’t know. It’s a month. To me it’s very cool that poetry has its own month. It means there are many people out there, like most of you, who enjoy poetry. We received so many wonderful poems for the forthcoming issue of ALTE that we could not use more than about a quarter of them. We hope to post some of the ones we did not have room for on the website as our use of that expands.
By way of shameless self promotion, I will be reading some of my own poems as the featured reader at the Hoboken N.J. Public Library’s “Positively Poetry Reading Series” this Tuesday at 7 p.m. More information is on the library’s website or in the flyer. Wishing you a wonderful week.
