Thank you for posting - and to the author, for the vulnerability of writing this. When the public becomes personal I believe we have an obligation to bring that back to the public realm. Only then can we humanize - and figure how to de-fang, de-throne, destroy - the evil within our midst.
Hope that writing all this helped the author, though it will have no practical effect on Stephen Miller or his ilk, who will seize on the personal depression and angst expressed to discredit all of it. But there's one key question asked here specifically of Miller--"How can you do to others what has been done to us?" Here's a question to be asked of all Jewish maga-ists, and it's also a question to be asked of those who support the current war in Gaza. A possible conclusion: being Jewish means nothing in these contexts--either individually or collectively. Jews are just as prone to ultra-nationalist bigotry and unthinking, revengeful atrocities as other peoples. No trauma, individual or collective, has induced self-reflection and an attempt to think past the trauma to some greater good. All that remains of being Jewish is that a few of us ask questions. This does not make us popular among many Jewish and non-Jewish neighbors. For me, asking questions -- including the most important "And then what?" -- is the essence of being a Jew.
Sorry I couldn't let that post at the bottom of the comments sit there like that.
It is about due process under (what was) the law. So I post this.

Immigrants with no criminal record are now the largest group in US immigration detention, according to data released by the government. The number of people with no criminal history arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) and detained by the Trump administration has now surpassed the number of those charged with crimes."
Alas, another lament from a brain-dead liberal (David Mamet's term) about how ICE is all about race and brown skin. That ten million illegal aliens were admitted to this country under tapioca-brain Biden's administration w/o criminal background or even health checks, including literally thousands of pedophiles, kidnappers, child abusers, armed robbers, drug cartel members, Chinese paramilitary--well, that many of these are not white shows that ICE is all about racial prejudice, right? The crimes and backgrounds of the illegals mean nothing, their color is all. What nonsense.

I have no answers--only questions.
