This 86-year-old altekaker is terrified, and that helps no one. It is hard to believe that the Post and LA Times would not endorse Harris. We must accept what comes, and if the worst happens, keep up the struggle. Years ago I recall that a former CIA agent, who had retired in disgust wrote that we had to keep trying, and if we fail, and the nuclear holocaust happens, we can only hope that we are next to someone we love, hug them, and say, βAt least we tried.β
How am I coping? I helped arrange an Early Voting Bagel Brunch ("Early voting never tasted so good!") and led a caravan of Dems through the streets of Great Neck today, 25+ cars decorated with streamers and signs, and I had an amplifier pointed out my car window while I chanted, "Early voting starts today, Vote Row A all the way!" and "Protect our freedom, elect Democrats!" and "Dump Trump the Chump!" and on and on...
Music absolutely helps, watching or listening to the news does not. Spending time with good friends, enjoying this phenomenal fall weather with walks and bike rides--all very uplifting. Prayer also helps!
I woke up this a.m. wishing I could go back to sleep and stay asleep until after election day, and whatever violence (no matter the outcome) has hopefully peaked and begun to subside, and of course I hope to hear the news that Harris/Walz have won and dems kept the majority in the Senate at least, and still I know there's going to be an amazing amount of create/preserve/restore democracy justice/ peace and kindness work to do. Which is to say I'm 80 years old and totally bummed.
Dear Esther, the sharing of your feelings, fears and frustrations helps us to remember weβre not alone during this difficult period. And that makes a difference. Thank you! Hugs,

And I'm going to do it again tomorrow! The only cure for this anxiety is action...

Me too
Iβm terrified, too and looking for anything immediately available to distract myself.
If you haven't already, subscribe to Simon Rosenberg's Hopium Chronicles.
Thanks I do
Find any good distractions?
Make calls, knock on doors, textbank... just be like the Little Engine that Could, keep on going and have faith that we will get there...
