Why Not Party?
A couple of weeks ago, Larry wrote about his new book, American Torah Tunes 2. Here’s a little more.In AMERICAN TORAH TOONS 2, Lawrence Bush springboards from each of the fifty-four portions of the Torah into deeply personal and provocative artworks that respond to the text withi humor, ethical conscience, and social and self-awareness. Poet and liturgist Marcia Falk describes the book as "an illuminating and fabulously entertaining collection," and Rabbi David Saperstein of the Religious Action Center calls it "funny, insightful, offensive, thought-provoking . . . a fascinating book for all."
We hope you will join us IN PERSON, Yay!, for a book launch and get tpgether in Verona, New Jersey, on Wednesday, November 16, at 7:30 p.m. For address info, or with any questions, email altetogether@gmail.com, and I will get back to you Our delightful hosts have plenty of space, and we are really hoping for a big turnout.
Meantime, I took advantage of early voting and voted last week. It was extremely easy, and I’m likely to vote this way in the future. Now I don’t have to worry about something coming up last minute on Tuesday. Instead, I can go back to trying not to think about how much worse things are likely to get. I can be glad that a few years ago I bought a large, gaudy rhinestone Star of David pendant that I wear on days like today.
So, come to the book party. In times like these it’s nice to have interesting conversations and a glass of wine or two with friends. We can toast, or we can mourn, but at least we can do it together, and Larry will have lots to say about the book.
Until then…
