My plan is to have all of my created stuff — books, artworks — at my funeral/memorial and ask attendees to take something home with them. But who knows how many people will be at my funeral?

I have definitely thought about it. I've always been into stuff. None of my nieces or nephews have the space or the interest in my stuff. I think the Egyptians had the right away - bury my stuff with me!

This is exactly what I've been tormenting myself with off and on.....I have saved and hauled these very personal items from house to house to apartment to storage rooms to apartments and stuffed onto some closet shelf....Items since childhood. Maybe there's some Machine that can compress it all into a perfect cube.....to be unfurled some time in the far future....So embarrassing to even think this as I'm actually no one that any far future being would want to know about....However, in my old age I find myself able to look back, with some ego free distance, and view a person in a certain place and time......and ...... see how it turned out.

I too have a box full of journals, and I am still writing in mine. I have been rereading some of them lately. But yes, what will become of them? Thanks, Jessica, for making me feel I have some good company in this practice.

I actually did go back & read my years of journaling and finally decided to create an art object using ripped pages from journals and discarded poems. I collaged them onto a mannequin (acquired at a garage sale) and now had finally found a use for this object. It’s been in several art shows and titled, “Body of Work.” And, BTW, reading the journals was quite interesting to see how much I have grown emotionally & spiritually.

You never know though how things may just show up. 2 examples) 1. I was doing some personal research on a long deceased uncle of mine and found a quote about him in a magazine so I emailed the writer and he sent me a photo taken of my Aunt Essie on Coney Island in the 1930's.

and 2. I read an article in the LA Times written by a kid I went to camp with 60 years prior. He sent me a photo taken at camp and who is in the background? Me! I know I never would have even dreamed that day in camp in 1963 that 60+ years later someone was going to send me a photo of myself via computer that I would see in the comfort of my own home. Anything's possible.
