Gratitudes to you for laying out the soul splitting dilemmas for so many of us, as we face the ongoing horror and tragedy in Palestine/Israel (my deliberate naming choice). They mirror many of my difficulties, so acute over the last 2 weeks, but always present most of my life. I'm almost 80 and only recently can say out loud to others I am not a zionist and have never been a zionist. Why do I find myself more angry at my own people's response to the Hamas attacks than at Hamas for their cruel and brutal murders against Israeli Jews, even though as I attempt to apply a moral accounting to the actions on all sides of the conflict, the wrongs are equally brutal , cruel & body/spirit soul shattering? Is it because I expect more of my own people than others? Am I not really a proper Jew even though I study Torah weekly, and pray daily? To me all souls are equally loved by the Mystery. This is the only accounting I feel I can come to rest in which enables to keep walking the path of chesed , tzedek, and gevurah.

As a lifetime subscriber and the niece of Morris U. Schappes, I would appreciate a look back into the archives to see what JC had to say about the Middle East over the years. It would be an interesting retrospective! I'd especially like to see articles from the 1960s and 70s. Keep doing the good work and thanks.
